It has been a busy and successful summer term for the Port Regis Music Department, filled with concerts and celebrations that showcased the talent and enthusiasm of our pupils.
The term began with a fabulous concert for Grandparents’ Day, where our young musicians performed with joy and confidence. Soon after, everyone took part in our very first House Singing Competition, an event that brought the whole school together in spirited song. The Summer Informal Concert provided a valuable platform for pupils, particularly those preparing for music exams, to practice their performance skills in front of a supportive audience.
Our choirs continue to flourish, with a vast array including the Boys’ Choir, Senior Boys’ Choir, Girls’ Choir, Senior Girls’ Choir, Chamber Choir and year group choirs. Instrumentalists too had abundant opportunities to shine, through ensembles such as the Training Orchestra, School Orchestra, Jazz Band, Brass Band, Strings Group, Flute Ensemble, Guitar Group, Djembe Drummers, Saxophone Group and even a Six Hands Piano Group! A highlight was the Brass Band’s performance at the Green Summer Fete, which created a joyful village fête atmosphere.
The Pre-Prep and Lower School Concert gave younger pupils their first taste of performing, while the moving Leavers’ Concert marked a poignant farewell for our departing musicians. The Summer Serenade was a fitting finale, celebrating a year of hard work and musical achievement.
Enormous thanks go to our inspirational Director of Music, Emily Baker, whose passion fills Port Regis with music all year round and to her dedicated team of peripatetic teachers for their invaluable support.
