Maths Challenge Achievements

26th April, 2024

We are very proud to share some incredible maths news and successes from across school:

⭐️ C Form pupils, Pip and Marina, both qualified for the Bonus Round in the Primary Maths Challenge, with Marina going on to secure a well-deserved Bronze Medal. An exceptional achievement; well done!

⭐️ A Form pupils, Charlie and Florence, were awarded Gold in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, a national competition for pupils in Year 11 and below. Charlie went on to receive a Merit in the Grey Kangaroo - the highest award you can get!

⭐️ Billy M and Hal W-J were awarded Silver in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, while Rosalie M, Ella-May S, Charlie A, Jonty M, Bailey C, Louisa L, Paddy A, Max N-T, Bertie M, Hal L, Leo H were awarded Bronze.

⭐️ D Form pupils enjoyed an excellent PR Plus session last Saturday hosted by maths don, Maria Zampeta from Winchester College. Maria introduced pupils to combinatorics, which is counting the number of ways to do something, before looking at counting paths and how we can use a tree diagram to represent alternative paths. It was great to see everyone involved; Maria was particularly impressed by the concentration and enthusiasm of all the children.

⭐️ On Monday, two teams of four pupils from A and B Forms will travel to Queens College to take part in a Team Maths Challenge. Swipe to see them putting in some last minute practice!

This a remarkable set of achievements; very well done to you all and good luck to our senior mathematicians for next week! A special mention to Head of Maths, Mr Savill, and our extraordinary maths department for all their hard work and support behind the scenes.
