A Message to Families of Leweston School

Like many in our community, we were greatly saddened to hear the news that Leweston School will be closing.

For generations, Leweston has played an important role in education locally, and we know this announcement will have come as a shock to pupils, parents and staff alike. Many members of the Port Regis community have connections with Leweston through friends, family and colleagues, and our thoughts are with everyone affected during what is understandably a difficult and uncertain time.

Above all, we recognise that families will now be focused on finding the best educational environment for their children. We appreciate that this process can feel daunting, particularly when decisions need to be made quickly, and we want to offer whatever support we can.

Should you wish to explore Port Regis as an option for your family, our Admissions Team would be pleased to help. They can be contacted at admissions@portregis.com and will be available to answer your questions, arrange a visit and guide you through the process. To help ease the transition, we have waived our usual registration fee for all Leweston families.

Visiting Port Regis

We are arranging both individual and group visits on 29, 30 and 31 October, with additional opportunities available during the following week and in the weeks ahead. These visits will allow families to explore the school and, once pupils return on 2 November, meet more members of staff and current Port Regis children. For children considering a move, we offer taster days and, where appropriate, an overnight boarding experience, helping them gain a genuine feel for life at Port Regis before making a decision.

Our aim is to make the process as straightforward and supportive as possible and to help families reach a decision with confidence.

Support with Fees

Recognising the exceptional circumstances, we will be offering the following arrangements to families joining Port Regis from Leweston with children in Reception to Year 8.

  •  Fees for the remainder of the Autumn Term 2026 will be waived, acknowledging that families have already paid for this term.

  • For the Spring and Summer Terms 2027, fees will be set midway between the equivalent Leweston fee and the standard Port Regis fee.

  • The usual registration fee will be waived.

  • For families committing to a place this term, the confirmation deposit will be reduced to £500 per child. This deposit remains refundable against the final term's fees.

Port Regis offers full boarding, flexi boarding (two, three or four nights per week) and day places, and the school remains open during Exeat weekends.

Families with financial questions, or who would value a confidential conversation about their circumstances, are warmly encouraged to contact the Bursar, Sally Ehlen, at bursar@portregis.com

Travel and Uniform

We currently operate morning and evening minibus services from Bruton, Salisbury and Warminster, less for Wednesday evenings. Subject to demand, there may be scope to extend these routes, and we would be pleased to discuss transport requirements with families. Please contact the Admissions Team for further information.

We appreciate that arranging a new uniform at short notice may present an additional challenge during an already busy time. Our on-site Uniform Shop can offer individual fitting appointments to help make the process as straightforward as possible. We also have a small selection of pre-loved uniform items available, which families may find helpful during the transition period.

We know that this is an unsettling time for many families. If Port Regis can be of assistance, we will do our utmost to provide reassurance, practical support and a warm welcome.
