UK Parliament Week Session at Bryanston

2nd December, 2025

Many thanks to Mr Waters, Head of Politics at Bryanston, and his awesome team of Old Port Regians who are now studying A Level Politics, for leading a captivating session about UK Parliament Week. Our A Form pupils were introduced to how the Houses of Parliament and the House of Lords function and their importance in society. Working in groups, the children then role played being members of Parliament and developing new laws on important social issues such as reducing the use of single use plastics. These laws were then presented and voted on in our very own Port Regis Parliament.

It was an excellent afternoon with some superb teamwork on display, and it was especially lovely to see the interaction between Port Regians young and old! Mr Waters said "I was blown away by your pupils engagement with everything across the afternoon. Such an informed and engaged bunch, they knew so much already that meant we could get truly stuck into the law-making activity. The speeches in the auditorium were tremendous and I was most impressed with the pupils' delivery, not to mention the volume as we voted for the bills. A lively learning afternoon!"
