Religious Studies

Curriculum

The Junior School Curriculum gives general preparation for the demands of the Common Entrance Syllabus. Pupils look at key Bible stories and also at three world religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The Common Entrance Syllabus starts in C Form (Year 6). The syllabus is split into three sections - Old Testament stories and Contemporary Issues, New Testament stories and Contemporary Issues and World Religions. Throughout C to A Form, pupils will study set stories and examine their context and meaning for today, thus linking each story to a moral issue. Pupils will also study in depth, the religions of Judaism, Sikhism and Islam.

The curriculum for Alpha and Beta is loosely based on the CE texts but is a more generic study of Biblical themes and figures, contemporary issues and the religion of Islam.
