    Part-time Nurse (resident during working hours)

    Responsibilities and Duties

    The Nurse is responsible to the Senior School Nurse, and is required to assist in all aspects of running the Health Centre. These duties include:

    1. Holding regular surgeries, and dispensing medicines.
    2. Nursing sick children in the Health Centre.
    3. Liaising with staff and parents.
    4. Giving emergency first-aid at sports events at the school.
    5. Assisting the School Doctor in his twice-weekly surgeries.
    6. Working as part of a team.

    The Nurse must familiarise him/herself with the needs of young boarding children as well as the day-to-day medical issues relating to health and welfare of children in general.  The Nurse is encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life, and interact fully with the children.

     

    Every "contact" with pupils must be recorded for medico-legal reasons to protect nursing staff and the School

    Hours

    During the Nurse’s working hours he/she is provided with accommodation in a light and comfortable modern flat next to the School’s Health Centre. This accommodation is shared with the other Nurse, in that the Nurse on duty has sole occupancy of the flat whilst on duty. This accommodation is provided for the better performance of the Nurse’s duties.

     

    The hours of work are during term time only (34 weeks a year) and include some weekends.  Further information regarding the hours of work can be provided by contacting Ruth Evans (Senior Nurse) on 07989 944689.

    Remuneration and Benefits

    Salary:              Dependent on the number of hours worked.

    Benefits:          

    • Membership of the pension scheme for non-teaching staff is available after a 12 month’s employment. The School also operates a stakeholder pension scheme in accordance with the Government's guidelines.  You are eligible to join the scheme from the start of your employment if you so wish.  On completion of twelve months’ satisfactory service you will qualify for a school contribution of 5% p.a. of your gross salary.
    • All Meals during working hours.
    • No requirement to work in School holidays.
    • Free membership to Motcombe Park Sports Centre and Port Regis Golf Course.
