Port Regis Pre-Prep & Nursery
Moving to the North we pass the rifle range and take the time to divert to the Pre-Prep and Nursery in Cole Court, which was once the stables of the main house. There is a large, enclosed hard-surfaced area and a beautiful walled garden for the exclusive use of the “littlies”, providing them with a delightful and safe setting for their play throughout the year.
The Pre-Prep opened in Autumn 1993, and since then it has developed into the most sought-after such facility in the area. With its own Headmistress, uniform, timetable and facilities, which include a well-equipped library and spacious dining-room and hall, the Pre-Prep and Nursery enjoys a high degree of autonomy whilst being able to rely on the support of the Prep School in a number of ways.
The latest Good Schools' Guide says, " Nursery and pre-prep so delightful that one finds oneself thinking that teaching small children might make a rather agreeable career change. Includes a 'secret door' to enchanting grass area; wonderful rustic 'forest school' built in nearby woods with campfire and range of wooden instruments made and used by the young children (unaccountable whiff of the Lord of the Flies in all this rough hewn woodwork)." Gosh!
The Prep School’s several Gap Year students and Sports Centre staff have flats above the Pre-Prep where they can relax in the evenings long after the little ones have gone home to supper and to bed!
