Tony Beadles read Modern History at Christ Church, Oxford. He was appointed Head of History at Ellesmere College, Shropshire in 1963, and then moved in 1967 to Harrow School where he was Head of History and a Housemaster. In 1985 he became Headmaster of King’s School, Bruton and so had many contacts with Port Regis. In 1992 he was appointed Headmaster of Epsom College, Surrey, and held that post until he retired in 2000. He was a Reporting Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate from 2000 to 2006 and led eighteen inspections of senior schools. He is involved in educational consultancy including the appraising of Heads and Senior Management, and is a Governor of King’s College, Taunton and of Danes Hill School, Oxshott. He lives nearby in Compton Pauncefoot. He has been a Governor of Port Regis since 2000, is Chairman of the Education Committee and a member of the Finance and General Purposes Committee and the Governance Committee. He was elected Deputy Chairman of Governors in 2007.
