Developing a Balanced Physical Education Programme

    • PE encompasses an extremely wide range of activities and it is impossible to include everything in a programme.
    • If there is to be quality in what pupils learn, activities need to be selected carefully.
    • The main division of activities has always been between games and individual performance/aesthetic activities. It is important that our curriculum reflects both aspects.
    • A pupil's physical education should be a complete experience and so the non-competitive aspect must not be under-valued.
    • All movement is performed as an end in itself and not as an exercise in gaining victory or experiencing defeat.

    Areas of Activity

    • Games activities.
    • Gymnastic/movement activities.
    • Swimming activities and water safety.
    • Athletic activities.
