Head of Department
Teaches A, B and C forms
Kate has been at Port Regis since 1997, having previously taught Maths and run the ICT department at a prep school in Sussex. She loves puzzles, palindromes and Jack Russell terriers, and her favourite piece of equipment is her interactive white board. She also coaches netball and rounders, with a Mathematical slant of course! |
Mr C R Baumann
Assistant Director of Studies
Teaches A, B and C forms
Clive has been at Port Regis for twenty something years, joining the school when there were just over 200 children on roll. He enjoyed running the Maths department for ten years before becoming Assistant Director of Studies. During that time he has appreciated the improvement in Common Entrance and the change of emphasis in Maths teaching. |
Mrs J Edmondson
Teaches Alpha, A, B and C forms
Jo joined PR in 1994 after serving nine years in the navy where among other things she taught Maths and Engineering to members of the US and Royal Navies. In the past six years she has taught mainly A and B form pupils, including the scholarship set. Jo also enjoys running, which is said to relieve stress!

Mr K Peacock
Deputy Headmaster
Teaches C and D forms
Kieron has taught at PR since September 1997. He particularly enjoys handling data and producing graphs and statistics, but is equally adept when embroiled in the relative complexities of algebra, long division, decimals, fractions and percentages. He thinks that it is particularly important to have a sense of humour when teaching Maths as some of the answers can be hilarious. He was born in April 1957, so those that are mathematically inclined should be able to work out his age! |
Mrs Bee Milton
Teaches A, B and C forms and Extra Maths
Bee joined Port Regis in March 2007.
She enjoys the one-to-one contact that being an Extra Mathematics teacher allows, but is also enjoying being back in the class room. Bee has taught in several secondary and middle schools in Berkshire and Dorset. As a mother of four children spare time is rare, but when possible she loves snowboarding, the sea and camping.

Mr T Murray
Teaches D forms Tom Murray started at Port Regis in 2006 after being a pupil and Gap at the school and is now a D form teacher. Tom really enjoys teaching Maths, especially using different methods of teaching to make maths accessible to all abilities. When not in the Maths department,Tom can be found on the rugby pitch where he is producing the next England team! |
Miss L Tichy
Teaches D forms

Mrs T Taylor
Teaches F form Trudi loves Maths and gets fully involved with everything going on. She teaches a wide range of ages and likes the hands-on approach. Thanks to Trudi, Maths has become a ‘cool’ subject with her pupils. |
Mrs E Lyon
Teaches E forms
Liz has been at Port Regis since Easter 1995, when she came to teach French and Music. After a term she moved to the E form, where she loves sharing the enjoyment of learning with her class. During her career, she has taught children from the ages of 2 to 18, and even the occasional adult! Her enjoyment of Maths came in useful when she ran her own business (the first home-delivery service of disposable nappies and other baby goods in Bristol!) and had to cope with VAT and book-keeping. Her interests include music, the theatre and reading. |
Mrs C A Peters
Teaches E form Christine joined PR in 1995 after being at her previous school for nearly twenty years. She had taught children from 3 to 18 and adults at evening classes.
She enjoys the challenges of teaching mixed ability groups and Maths is very satisfying when the children ‘get it’! In the E Form, where Christine is a Class Teacher, much emphasis is put into playing games to help the learning process, and both children and teacher have great fun with these. |

Mrs C Jones
Teaches F forms
Cathy Jones joined Port Regis in 2004 and, as a classroom assistant, supported Maths lessons in the Lower School for her first two years. She has now taken on the role of F form teacher and is thoroughly enjoying her return to full-time teaching. Cathy has taught Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 during her teaching career and worked in a variety of schools in Berkshire and Kent. She believes in Maths being fun and always tries to incorporate games and investigations into her Maths topics.

Extra Maths Staff
Mrs E Askin
Teaches Extra Maths
Liz has been at Port Regis since September 2004, having previously taught Mathematics and Science in both state and independent schools for more years than she cares to remember! She has also run a teacher training course at Bath University. In her spare time, Liz enjoys walking, growing sweet peas, reading detective fiction and solving mathematical puzzles. |
Mr Mike Brookman
Teaches Extra Maths Mike was Head of Maths and ICT at Port Regis from 1978 until 1993 when he moved north to become Deputy Headmaster at Highfield Priory School in Preston. More recently Mike has taught maths at Stonyhurst College and St Annes College Grammar School. He enjoys helping children on a one to one basis and believes you are never too old to improve your maths (his oldest pupil was 56!). Mike introduced the very first computer to Port Regis and wrote dozens of programs to help children with their maths. Mike and his family were the first residents of Timbertops and he still remembers the outdoor swimming pool in the walled garden. In his spare time Mike enjoys walking and has climbed every mountain in England and Wales. |
