C form

Model car with geared drive
Now in the upper school, pupils begin their CAD/CAM module by designing and making a model car. With a geared drive and reversible motor this is a popular project and a perfect way to learn how to use the CAD drawing software (2D Design). Ideas for the acrylic chassis are drawn on screen and laser cut before assembling the electric drive system.

B form

Alarm Systems

This is an introduction to alarm systems including the use of Programmable Microcontrollers (PICAXE).

A form

i-Pod Speakers, Automatic Desk Fans and Colour Changing Lamps

Individual projects
In exceptional circumstances, where a pupil is repeating the year or is taking a scholarship, he or she is encouraged to work on a project of their own choosing. Constraints are employed to assist with resource management and also to ensure generally successful outcomes. Differentiation is achieved by negotiation.
